Collection of general information

When you access our website, information of a general nature is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your internet service provider and similar data. This information does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. It is technically necessary in order to correctly deliver the content of web pages requested by you and is inevitably generated when using the internet. Anonymous information of this kind is evaluated by us statistically in order to optimize our online presence and the underlying technology.

Cookies

Like many other websites, we also use “cookies.” Cookies are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. Through this, we automatically receive certain data such as IP address, browser used, operating system of your computer and your internet connection.

Cookies cannot be used to start programs or transmit viruses to a computer. Based on the information contained in cookies, we can make navigation easier for you and enable the correct display of our web pages.

Under no circumstances will the data we collect be passed on to third parties, nor will it be linked to personal data without your consent.

Of course, you can generally view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are regularly set to accept cookies. You can disable the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please use your internet browser’s help functions to learn how to change these settings. Please note that some features of our website may not function properly if you have disabled the use of cookies.

SSL encryption

To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use encryption methods corresponding to the current state of the art (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

Comment function

When users leave comments on the blog, the time of their creation and the user name previously chosen by the website visitor are stored in addition to the comment itself. This is for our security, as we can be held liable for unlawful content on our website, even if it was created by users.

Contact form

If you contact us by email or via the contact form, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and for possible follow-up questions.

Deletion or blocking of data

We adhere to the principles of data minimization and data avoidance. We therefore store your personal data only as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated here or as required by the various retention periods stipulated by law. After the respective purpose has ceased to apply or these periods have expired, the corresponding data will be routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies,” text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Due to the activation of IP anonymization on these pages, your IP address will, however, be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities and to provide other services relating to website and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser software; however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: Browser add-on to disable Google Analytics.

Additionally or as an alternative to the browser add-on, you can disable or revoke tracking by Google Analytics on our pages here: [cookies_revoke]. An opt-out cookie will be placed on your device. This will prevent data collection by Google Analytics for this website and this browser in the future, as long as the cookie remains installed in your browser.

Use of the Scalable Central Measurement Method (SZM)

Our website uses the “Scalable Central Measurement Method” (SZM) of INFOnline GmbH (http://www.infonline.de) to determine statistical key figures about the use of our offerings.

Anonymous measurement values are collected. The SZM reach measurement uses, to recognize computer systems, either a cookie with the identifier “ioam.de,” “ivwbox.de,” a LocalStorage object, or a signature created from various automatically transmitted information of your browser. IP addresses are processed only in anonymized form.

The reach measurement was developed with data protection in mind. The aim of reach measurement is to statistically determine the usage intensity and the number of users of a website. Individual users are never identified. Your identity always remains protected. You will not receive advertising through the system.

For web offerings that are members of IVW (Informationsgemeinschaft zur Feststellung der Verbreitung von Werbeträgern e.V., http://www.ivw.eu) or participate in the “internet facts” study of AGOF (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Online-Forschung e.V., www.agof.de), usage statistics are published monthly by AGOF and ag.ma (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Media-Analyse e.V., www.agma-mmc.de), as well as by IVW, and can be viewed at http://www.agof.de, http://www.agma-mmc.de and http://www.ivw.eu. In addition to publishing measured data, IVW regularly reviews the SZM process for compliance with rules and data protection.

Further information on the SZM process can be found on the website of INFOnline GmbH (https://www.infonline.de), which operates the SZM process, the AGOF data protection website (http://www.agof.de/datenschutz), and the IVW data protection website (http://www.ivw.eu).

You can object to data processing by SZM at the following links: http://optout.ioam.de and http://optout.ivwbox.de.

Use of script libraries (Google Web Fonts)

In order to display our content correctly and graphically appealing across browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. Google Web Fonts are transferred to your browser’s cache to avoid multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Web Fonts or prevents access, content will be displayed in a standard font.

Calling up script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the operator of the library. It is theoretically possible—and currently also unclear whether and for what purposes—that operators of such libraries collect data.

You can find the privacy policy of the library operator Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Use of Google Maps

This website uses the Google Maps API to visually display geographic information. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes, and uses data about visitors’ use of the map functions. For more information about data processing by Google, please refer to the Google privacy notices. There you can also change your personal privacy settings in the Privacy Center.

Detailed instructions for managing your own data in connection with Google products can be found here.

Embedded YouTube videos

We embed YouTube videos on some of our web pages. The provider of the corresponding plug-ins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plug-in, a connection to YouTube servers is established. YouTube is thereby informed of which pages you visit. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your browsing behavior to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behavior.

Anyone who has deactivated the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program will not have to expect such cookies when viewing YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

Further information on data protection at “YouTube” can be found in the provider’s privacy policy at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/

Social plug-ins

We offer you the opportunity to use “social media buttons” on our website. To protect your data, we rely on the “Shariff” solution when implementing them. As a result, these buttons are only integrated on the website as graphics which contain a link to the corresponding website of the button’s provider. By clicking the graphic, you will be redirected to the services of the respective provider. Only then will your data be sent to the respective provider. If you do not click the graphic, there is no exchange between you and the providers of the social media buttons. Information about the collection and use of your data in social networks can be found in the respective terms of use of the corresponding providers. More information on the Shariff solution can be found here: http://www.heise.de/ct/artikel/Shariff-Social-Media-Buttons-mit-Datenschutz-2467514.html

We have integrated social media buttons from the following companies on our website:

  • Twitter Inc. (795 Folsom St. – Suite 600 – San Francisco – CA 94107 – USA)

Google AdWords

Our website uses Google Conversion Tracking. If you arrived at our website via an ad placed by Google, a cookie is set on your computer by Google AdWords. The cookie for conversion tracking is set when a user clicks on an ad placed by Google. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to that page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked across the websites of AdWords customers. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information with which users can be personally identified.

If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can refuse the setting of a cookie required for this—e.g. via a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies—or set your browser so that cookies from the domain “googleleadservices.com” are blocked.

Please note that you must not delete the opt-out cookies as long as you do not wish any recording of measurement data. If you have deleted all cookies in your browser, you will need to set the respective opt-out cookie again.

Use of Google Remarketing

This website uses the remarketing function of Google Inc. The function is intended to present interest-based advertisements to website visitors within the Google advertising network. A so-called “cookie” is stored in the website visitor’s browser, which makes it possible to recognize the visitor when they access websites that belong to Google’s advertising network. On these pages, visitors may be presented with advertisements that relate to content the visitor previously viewed on websites that use Google’s remarketing function. According to its own statements, Google does not collect any personal data during this process. If you nevertheless do not wish to use Google’s remarketing function, you can deactivate it in principle by making the appropriate settings at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you can deactivate the use of cookies for interest-based advertising via the Network Advertising Initiative by following the instructions at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.

Your rights to access, rectification, blocking, erasure and objection

You have the right to obtain information about your personal data stored by us at any time. You also have the right to rectification, blocking or—apart from the mandatory data storage for business processing—erasure of your personal data. Please contact our data protection contact for this. The contact details can be found at the very bottom.

In order for data to be blocked at any time, the data must be kept in a block list for control purposes. You can also demand the erasure of the data, insofar as there is no legal archiving obligation. If such an obligation exists, we will block your data upon request.

You can make changes or revoke consent with effect for the future by notifying us accordingly.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to adapt this Privacy Policy occasionally so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services in the Privacy Policy, e.g. when introducing new services. The new Privacy Policy will then apply to your next visit.
